Job Description
About the role:
Join Takeda as the Director of Master Data where you will play a crucial role in driving and navigating transformative initiatives while fostering a culture of continuous improvement, adaptability, and growth. You will also consolidate multiple sources of reference data into a single consolidated view within a Master Data tool enabling commercial analytics. The Director of Master Data comprehensively manages the rules and processes defining the consumption of master data sources and the rules defining a single mastered view of each record. This role will also be expected to lead a team that includes leads for Data Quality, Stewardship, Governance and ensure those teams elevate the partnership with business stakeholders in each of those categories As part of the Sales Operations & Solutions team, you will report to Senior Director of Sales Operations & Solutions and partner with Commercial Operations and Business Solutions (CDMS), Business Unit (BU), and DD&T colleagues, as well as external partners.
How you will contribute:

  • Partner with an extensive network of external data suppliers of master data and related components to understand the marketplace, to optimize spends, to leverage the breadth of data, and to build expertise.
  • Engage with stakeholders to enable business strategies and provide thought leadership on opportunities where master data partners and capabilities play an important role. Provide master data thought leadership and develop roadmaps and strategic plans to articulate the vision.
  • Partner with DD&T in concert with the master data domain leads on their team as the expert and senior representative to initiate new master data enhancements as well as to remediate and resolve challenges.
  • Oversee the establishment of master data business rules and ensure they are followed throughout the ecosystem via a governance-based approach.
  • Ensure master data processes are of high quality, meet compliance standards, and evolve to support the growing and changing business.
  • Partner with Data Acquisition and Master Data Customers to define domain sources including initial quality assessments, data profiling and mastering business requirements.
  • Lead with DD&T team to implement sources including ecosystem analytical impacts, operational support, and business communication.
  • Responsible for educating/partnering with domain consumers to ensure best use of master data across the ecosystem.
  • Lead master data governance activities including analytical assessments, ecosystem prioritization, and implementation planning.
  • Possess a solid grasp of commercial operations strategy with an enterprise mindset and deeply understand how master data plays a critical role both in its production as well as its consumption.
  • Lead teams and colleagues through investigative assessments including complex analyses and stakeholder communications.
  • Manage large groups of direct and indirect reports including consultants and distributed teams.
  • Strong project management competencies with the ability to coordinate and direct work.
  • Knowledgeable of USBU procured fact data and how master data and it connect to support brand data strategies.
  • Responsible for the master data vendor relationships and overall quality of data delivery to Takeda.
  • Build and sustain important relationships with Procurement to ensure cost efficiency and accuracy in all master data contracts. Support RFPs and contract negotiations.
  • Ensure master data team capture, store, and keep current comprehensive master data documentation.
  • As a member of the CDMS leadership team, spearhead initiatives to foster a cohesive and inclusive environment, emphasizing collaboration and shared goals.
  • Partner closely with stakeholders, particularly in sales operations, to align strategies, improve communication channels, and enhance cross-functional cooperation.
  • Drive cultural improvements within the team, managing change effectively while cultivating a culture of transparency and continuous improvement.
  • Champion the enhancement of master data literacy among team members, facilitating knowledge-sharing and leveraging data-driven decision-making.
  • Actively pursue ways to cultivate a learning culture, encouraging ongoing skill development to propel the team's growth and success.
  • Lead in the development and execution of data quality and service level enforcement techniques applied to master data.
  • Oversee of a calendar of regularly scheduled and cyclical supplier reviews to ensure consistent compliance.


Minimum Requirements/Qualifications:

  • Minimum BS/BA degree with MS/MBA preferred
  • Minimum of 10 years' experience in the pharmaceutical, immunology, biologic/biotech, or medical device industries.
  • Minimum of 8 years of people leadership experience leading a medium to large organization and influencing senior-level management and key stakeholders.
  • Proven track record of driving business process transformation and organizational culture change as well as delivering on programs with complex business deliverables.
  • Ability to set priorities, deliver on deadlines and develop workflow processes and tasks in an evolving, dynamic marketplace.
  • Strong analytical skills and budget management.
  • Previous organizational change management experience.
  • Excellent interpersonal, communication, and skills necessary to lead through change and influence without authority.
  • Ability to demonstrate strategic and critical thinking, as well as problem solving skills.
  • Strong organizational, planning and project management skills-ability to set priorities, meet deadlines and develop workflow processes and tasks for multiple projects.
  • Track record of successful leadership, management, and development of small to medium, multi-disciplinary dispersed teams. Strong judge of talent with the ability to make tough talent decisions.
  • Health care business acumen with a comprehensive understanding of the pharmaceutical industry

U.S. Base Salary Range:
$169,400.00 - $266,200.00
The estimated salary range reflects an anticipated range for this position. The actual base salary offered may depend on a variety of factors, including the qualifications of the individual applicant for the position, years of relevant experience, specific and unique skills, level of education attained, certifications or other professional licenses held, and the location in which the applicant lives and/or from which they will be performing the job. The actual base salary offered will be in accordance with state or local minimum wage requirements for the job location.
U.S. based employees may be eligible for short-term and/ or long-term incentives. U.S. based employees may be eligible to participate in medical, dental, vision insurance, a 401(k) plan and company match, short-term and long-term disability coverage, basic life insurance, a tuition reimbursement program, paid volunteer time off, company holidays, and well-being benefits, among others. U.S. based employees are also eligible to receive, per calendar year, up to 80 hours of sick time, and new hires are eligible to accrue up to 120 hours of paid vacation.
