We are looking for a dynamic and experienced Director, Internal Audit to join our team. The Director of Internal Audit, reporting directly to the Head of Internal Audit, will be responsible for developing and executing the annual audit plan and achieving departmental goals. Key responsibilities include ensuring the audit scope is appropriate, maintaining high-quality testing and reporting standards, and identifying and tracking issues to resolution.
To accomplish this role, the individual will be accountable for maintaining relationships and staying ahead of the activities happening within Geode. Strong leadership skills and knowledge of asset management are essential to make a significant impact. The leader will approach tasks with an inquisitive mindset and employ fact-based problem-solving methods.

 

This is a hybrid work environment opportunity located in Boston, Massachusetts with a weekly in office schedule of Tuesdays, Wednesdays and Thursdays and remote work availability on Mondays and Fridays.

 

Responsibilities:

  • Co-lead the development of the annual audit plan; help identify risks and impacts to relevant coverage areas to prioritize areas of focus
  • Plan and conduct formal audits across the full spectrum of the audit cycle, including planning, fieldwork, and reporting. This includes:
    • Identification and evaluation of key processes, risks, and controls
    • Preparation of audit programs and other procedures to test controls
    • Preparation and communication of recommendations to remediate control deficiencies
  • Establish and maintain relationships with stakeholders at all levels within the business lines and control functions
  • Monitor and report on the disposition and status of action plans and conduct substantive tests of compliance, as necessary
  • Perform pre-implementation and post-mortem reviews, as necessary
  • Work with the Internal Audit leadership team to prepare and deliver regular updates to stakeholders, including senior executives, management committees, audit committees, board of directors, and external auditors and/or regulators
  • Promote the department’s value proposition
  • Implement best practices and procedures to improve the efficiency and effectiveness of internal audit activities, including data analytics and automation
  • Actively contribute to developing a culture of risk and control awareness throughout the organization
  • Collaborate across Internal Audit to design techniques and solutions to improve the organization’s control environment.

Skills You Bring:

  • 12+ years of combined professional experience in audit, operational risk, and/or public accounting, preferably with experience in the asset management industry
  • Bachelor's degree (or higher), preferably in Accounting, Finance, or related fields. A CPA or CIA certification is preferred
  • Proactively maintain knowledge, skills, and disciplines through ongoing professional development
  • Maintain the professional standard of the Internal Audit function and work within its agreed Terms of Reference, IIA standards/guidelines, Charter, and Mandate
  • Self-starter with the ability to work and think independently
  • Excellent communication skills, both written and verbal, with the ability to effectively interact and influence at all levels
  • Excellent analytical, critical thinking, problem-solving, and decision-making skills
  • Solid understanding of Excel, PowerPoint, Visio, Access, and common internal audit work paper tools (e.g., automated work papers)
