We are building the monitoring and security platform for developers, IT ops teams and business users in the cloud age.
The Role

Datadog is seeking an experienced Staff Engineer to join our AAA team. We are looking for a Staff Engineer to help build out our area around Org Management and Tag Management across all of Datadog. This role comes with direct influence on how we shape policies across data intake and data stores. An example of a problem this person will solve is "How can we give a customer the ability to control what tags their data has on all types of telemetry, logs, metrics and traces they send to Datadog". This will include significant cross teamwork and collaboration with a number of Datadog product and platform teams, as well as driving highly scalable designs across our various systems.
At Datadog, we place value in our office culture - the relationships and collaboration it builds and the creativity it brings to the table. We operate as a hybrid workplace to ensure our Datadogs can create a work-life harmony that best fits them.
What You'll Do:

  • Collaborate with cross-functional teams to design and develop a new platform service for easy data storage and management
  • Drive high-priority, high-visibility projects that enhance the platform's scalability and resilience
  • Lead architectural decisions for new and existing distributed, high-throughput, real-time systems
  • Identify potential system risks and design solutions to address them
  • Contribute to short- and long-term planning and roadmap development

Who You Are:

  • You have several years of experience leading cross-team initiatives in a platform or infrastructure-focused environment
  • You have a deep understanding of relational and document-based database systems
  • You are passionate about performance and efficiency optimization
  • You have significant back-end programming experience and have architected, built, and operated distributed systems to solve problems at high scale
  • You possess a deep understanding of the day-to-day responsibilities of an engineer and have a strong technical background
  • You have excellent verbal and written communication skills and are comfortable presenting and defending your ideas to both technical and non-technical audiences
  • You have a BS/MS/PhD in a Computer Science, Engineering or related scientific field or equivalent experience

Datadog values people from all walks of life. We understand not everyone will meet all the above qualifications on day one. That's okay. If you're passionate about technology and want to grow your skills, we encourage you to apply.
Datadog offers a competitive salary and equity package, and may include variable compensation. Actual compensation is based on factors such as the candidate's skills, qualifications, and experience. In addition, Datadog offers a wide range of best in class, comprehensive and inclusive employee benefits for this role including healthcare, dental, parental planning, and mental health benefits, a 401(k) plan and match, paid time off, fitness reimbursements, and a discounted employee stock purchase plan.
The reasonably estimated yearly salary for this role at Datadog is:
$234,000 - $300,000 USD
