Description

BusRight is hiring a remote Business Development Representative (BDR) to join our dynamic and expanding Revenue Team. In this role, you will be provided with the necessary tools and support to develop your skills and grow alongside a high-performing sales team driving BusRight’s rapid growth. We seek dedicated, self-driven individuals with a proven track record in similar sales roles who are eager to further their careers by selling cutting-edge technology solutions within the Education Technology sector. As an integral member of our team, you will play a key role in accelerating new customer acquisition and will have a clear career progression pathway to our Account Executive Team.

About BusRight

BusRight, though still a small and nimble team, has expanded into 27 states, raised $15 million from world-class investors, and is now scaling its sales team to build relationships with school districts nationwide.

At BusRight, we are dedicated to improving the safety and efficiency of the nation’s largest mass transit system—school buses. Every day, more than 26 million students rely on 500,000 buses to get to and from school. The logistics of this massive operation are often managed with pen and paper or outdated software. BusRight aims to modernize school bus management by providing advanced routing technology, dynamic driver navigation, live GPS tracking, and real-time parent communication, ensuring a safer and more efficient experience for families, schools, and communities.

Why this role is unique

  • Join us early: As an early team member at a rapidly growing transportation technology startup, you’ll be granted equity, a base salary, and commissions for each deal that closes that you booked.
  • Influence sales strategy: You’ll collaborate closely with your sales Pod, driving various sales initiatives, developing scalable systems, exploring new growth opportunities, and representing BusRight at conferences nationwide.
  • Versatility: You’ll wear many hats, including business development and pipeline generation to sales operations and conference engagement, and more.
  • Connect with the BusRight community: Our advisors, investors, and team members are committed to supporting your growth. Our investors include the founders of Kayak, Quizlet, and Wayfair, as well as early backers of Uber, SpaceX, and other iconic transportation companies.

What you will do

You'll focus on calling Transportation Directors at School Districts across the United States to book demos for the Sales Executive Team. You will work alongside our sales team during a pivotal time for our go-to-market strategy, where you'll create, influence, and execute new ideas to fuel revenue growth.

  • Outreach: Each day, you'll make 75 calls to Transportation Directors with the goal of booking 15 demos weekly.
  • Operations: Keep Salesforce and Orum (our power dialer) consistently updated with new leads (we’ll provide the lists). Run outreach cadences, including calls and emails, to prospects through these platforms. You’ll also create proposals, reschedule demos, and identify best practices to refine our lead generation playbook.
  • Culture: Bring your feedback, strategies, and ideas to advance BusRight’s values, unique culture, and vision for the future of student transportation.

What you will bring to the team

  • 2+ years of outbound technology sales experience.
  • Ability to strategically manage large prospect lists and consistently call on 75+ prospects daily.
  • Demonstrate excellent written and verbal communication skills and have the technical aptitude to master our sales tools.
  • Understand that converting a cold call to a demo is more about listening and identifying a prospect's pain points, rather than selling features.
  • You get energized when a prospect agrees to a demo, and you ensure a proper handoff between yourself and the seller.
  • You thrive with extreme autonomy in a remote environment.
  • Go above and beyond to deliver your quota and help your teammates and the company succeed.
  • You embody our .

We're growing and looking to hire people from diverse backgrounds and experiences. We want to hear from you if you're interested in our mission, even if you're not a perfect match for this role.

Host to the first telephone call and one of the first general-purpose computers ever put into use, Boston is now a hub for biotechnology, robotics and artificial intelligence — though it’s also home to several B2B software giants. So it’s no surprise that the city consistently ranks among the greatest startup ecosystems in the world.

Key Facts About Boston Tech

  • Major Tech Employers: Thermo Fisher Scientific, Toast, Klaviyo, HubSpot, DraftKings
  • Key Industries: Artificial intelligence, biotechnology, robotics, software, aerospace
  • Funding Landscape: $15.7 billion in venture capital funding in 2024 (Pitchbook)
  • Notable Investors: Summit Partners, Volition Capital, Bain Capital Ventures, MassVentures, Highland Capital Partners
  • Research Centers and Universities: MIT, Harvard University, Boston College, Tufts University, Boston University, Northeastern University, Smithsonian Astrophysical Observatory, National Bureau of Economic Research, Broad Institute, Lowell Center for Space Science & Technology, National Emerging Infectious Diseases Laboratories
