At Jellyfish, we build software that helps engineering teams measure their development efforts and improve strategic decision-making. As an intern in Jellyfish Data Science, you will work to build innovative new products and features that leverage the unique data we are collecting about how engineers develop, collaborate on, and deploy software. You will have the opportunity to create systems and services that turn raw data into rich insights, impacting how our customers understand their development teams and the software they build. Most importantly, you will be part of a highly talented team working in a fun, challenging, and collaborative environment, building a business and company led by experienced entrepreneurs and backed by top-tier investment partners.
You will have the opportunity to:
-
Develop new algorithms that characterize and model the way software developers write code, create documentation, and collaborate
-
Contribute to marketing blog posts that present exploratory research on the practices of developers for the software community
-
Learn the basics of how to develop machine learning models that are deployed in production
-
Create and present novel analyses to help specific companies better understand their development process
-
Explore fundamental research in areas of computer science, applied mathematics, and machine learning
What you will need:
-
You have good fundamental skills in programming in any language
-
You enjoy working with real-world data and are excited about testing your ideas and creations in partnership with real customers
-
You love learning new things and teaching others what you know
-
You have strong communication skills and enjoy working as part of a cross-functional team
-
Previous internship/co-op experience
Bonus points if you have experience with:
-
Standard Python libraries for data science (e.g. pandas, scikit-learn)
-
Research projects outside of formal coursework
A list of job experiences and qualification requirements is great, but humility, a performance-driven attitude, and a team-player approach are most important to us. We love to have fun and win in the process. We only hire people who have a passion for building great companies in an environment where a sense of humor is a must.
Applicants must be authorized to work for any employer in the US. We are unable to sponsor or take over sponsorship of an employment visa at this time.
Let’s talk about us!
This is all about you, but you want to know a little about us. Jellyfish was started in 2017 as a team of three with one big idea: engineering is the core of modern business, so let’s create and manage it that way! With the help of our customers, we have built the first Engineering Management Platform, providing visibility into engineering organizations, their work, and how they operate. We enable leaders to align engineering decisions with business initiatives and deliver the right software efficiently and on time.
