Geode is seeking a Director - Solution Architect to architect, design and modernize the technology systems that we rely on every day and to grow, and partner with product and engineering teams to build and manage these systems to solve business issues effectively. This position will report to the Head of Architecture and partner with the technology teams and product owners. This individual will engage regularly with the CTO and technology leadership team as well as other members of the Geode leadership team and investment teams across the firm to drive successful outcomes.
This is a hybrid work environment with a weekly in-office schedule of Tuesdays, Wednesdays, and Thursdays with remote work availability on Mondays and Fridays.
Primary Responsibilities:

  • Partner with product owners and technical leaders to develop future architectural vision by understanding business goals and capabilities.
  • Develop and collaborate on establishing architecture standards, patterns and practices with other architects to be used repeatedly across solutions.
  • Lead end-to-end functional and technical solution design for cloud-based solutions, SaaS solutions and vendor products.
  • Define architectural standards, principles and the governance framework and processes to manage stakeholder decisions and safeguard the integrity of the solution architecture.
  • Provide technical oversight, leading solution architecture related tasks such as peer and quality reviews of specifications, design documents and code reviews.
  • Enforce and maintains compliance with Enterprise Architecture, Technology - Security and Resiliency Standards and Disaster Recovery/Business Continuity Planning and best practices.
  • Execute knowledge management, thought leadership and innovation activities; act as an advisor and mentor to architectural and technical resources providing guidance and motivation.
  • Promote the secure software development lifecycle best practices among peers and other technical staff.
  • Provide technical guidance and coaching to developers and engineers; may act as career advisor to technical team members.
  • Collaborate with Technical governance on security, risk management, compliance, data governance related activities.
  • Develop and maintain a very broad set of knowledge across the full technology spectrum and latest industry innovations.
  • Be a subject matter expert for development teams as part of implementation.
  • Document and maintain product architecture for solutions architecture and technology portfolio; make recommendations for improvements and/or alternatives.

Job Requirements:

  • 10+ years of industry experience in architecture, analytics, design, and development of enterprise solutions in multiple technology platforms, frameworks, and languages.
  • Bachelor’s or master’s degree in computer science or related field. Ability to provide technical leadership, prepare design artifacts, and implement solutions for agile teams. You will drive the end-to-end solutions architecture design and ownership and articulate the design to the product owners, agile teams, and architecture leadership.
  • Ability to engage with multiple squads to deliver architecture artifacts, drive issue resolution, wellness plans, and product roadmaps.
  • Ability to analyze business direction, understand the long-term vision, and quantify the risk/benefits in developing strategic technical solutions.
  • Ability to build and maintain effective relationships with product owners, architects, and technical leads for individual products and applications.
  • Proven experience in architecture, including scalability, resilience, security, and data architecture.
  • Proficient in Cloud Architecture, Services, and Patterns
  • Experience in DevSecOps and authoring CI/CD automation
  • Deep understanding of well architected framework implementation in Enterprise: Operation Excellent, Security, Reliability, Performance Efficiency and Cost optimization.
  • Demonstrated strong software development experience in Server-Side technologies like Java, Node.js, Python and Client-Side technologies like HTML 5, JavaScript, CSS3, Angular.
  • Ability to work both independently and with all levels of the organization, including technical and non-technical team members.
  • Passion for technology, not limiting yourself to a set of languages or frameworks.
  • Track record of critical thinking and translating business needs into technology solutions.
  • Strong presentation skills; written and verbal communication including the ability to influence and negotiate resolution of issues and conflicts.
  • Experience in cloud technologies and practices, building and deploying applications using either AWS or Azure or both. Cloud certification preferred.
  • Strong Domain knowledge / Financial Industry experience preferred.
