Role Summary
Magna New Mobility is seeking a hands-on and motivated Electrical Engineering Co-op to join our New Mobility group in Lowell, MA. In this role, you will work directly with our team of engineers to troubleshoot, test, and improve electrical systems in autonomous mobile robotics (AMR) platforms.
This is a unique opportunity to gain real-world experience in debugging, analyzing, and optimizing robotic electrical systems, including sensors, power distribution, and motor control. If you're passionate about working with electronics, solving real-world technical challenges, and getting hands-on with cutting-edge robotic systems, this role is for you!
Key Responsibilities
As an Electrical Engineering Co-op, you will:
- Troubleshoot and debug electrical and electronic issues in AMRs, including power, sensors, and communication systems.
- Work with multimeters, oscilloscopes, power supplies, and other lab equipment to diagnose hardware and firmware issues.
- Assist with wiring, soldering, and assembling electrical components and circuits.
- Support sensor integration and calibration, including LiDAR, cameras, and motor controllers.
- Analyze and test power distribution, battery management, and embedded control systems.
- Document findings and propose improvements to enhance system reliability.
- Collaborate with mechanical and software engineers to ensure seamless electromechanical system integration.
- Assist in the development of test setups and debugging tools for robotics systems.
Key Qualifications & Requirements
- Currently pursuing a Bachelor's or Master's degree in Electrical Engineering, Mechatronics, or a related field.
Preferred Skills (but not required):
- Familiarity with microcontrollers, firmware, or communication protocols (CAN, I2C, UART, SPI).
- Prior hands-on experience with wiring, soldering, and PCB testing.
