Job Description

Cognex is the world’s leading provider of vision systems, software, sensors, and industrial barcode readers used in manufacturing automation. Typical applications for machine vision include detecting defects, monitoring production lines, guiding assembly robots, and tracking, sorting and identifying parts.

Cognex serves an international customer base from offices located throughout the Americas, Europe, and Asia, and through a global network of integration and distribution partners. The company is headquartered close to Boston in Natick, Massachusetts, USA.

We are working on a hybrid schedule, 3 days in the office, 2 at home.

The Role:

The US International Tax Manager will be an integral part of the finance organization and will partner closely with the business on a wide range of tax matters. Reporting to the Head of Tax, this position will be responsible for the US international tax aspects of US corporate income tax compliance, quarterly reporting and forecasting, and special projects. As a well-rounded tax professional, your role will provide insightful and practical advice to help the business and senior management make strategic and tactical decisions for our company.

Key responsibilities:

  • Responsible for GILTI, FDII, foreign tax credit, and other US international tax computations and documentation as a key part of the quarterly forecast and year-end tax accounting process led by Senior Tax Manager (approximately 25% of time) 

  • Responsible for preparing or reviewing US international tax and Pillar Two compliance (approximately 25% of time)

  • Support business initiatives, M&A, and other special projects by providing pragmatic tax advice, planning, documentation, and project management (approximately 25% of time)

  • Monitor tax legislation and model multi-year impact. Provide regular updates and reports to senior management. (approximately 15% of time)

  • Manage and support tax audits. (approximately 10% of time)

Qualifications [Minimum education and work experience required]:

  • Bachelor’s degree in accounting, Finance, or a related field; CPA, JD, or MST preferred.

  • Proven experience with US GAAP ASC 740 and tax compliance.

  • A comprehensive understanding of international tax issues such as GILTI and FDII computations, and a basic understanding of transfer pricing principles.

  • Experience with creating multi-year tax models.

  • Minimum of 6 years of experience in tax accounting; preferred experience in Big Four accounting firms, bringing a comprehensive understanding of complex tax environments.

  • Strong communication and presentation skills. Must be able to convey complex technical information to all levels of the organization in a clear and concise manner.  

  • Superior attention to detail and ability to highlight unexpected results.

  • Excellent organizational skills with proven ability to handle multiple demands and competing priorities within deadlines.

  • Proficiency in Microsoft Excel required. Experience with Thomson Reuters OneSource Provision software is of advantage.

  • Outstanding analytical skills, including ability to understand and evaluate complex tax principles.

  • Strong collaboration and partnership skills, with the ability to work effectively with diverse teams and stakeholders.
