About the Department
Our Boston Research & Development hub, anchored in the greater Boston area, brings together the best minds in life science innovation. The teams located in facilities in Lexington, Watertown and Cambridge reflect the full R&D continuum, from early research through late-stage clinical development. Here, we are building for the future, creating a distinct R&D community based on collaboration, partnerships, and cutting-edge research across multiple modalities and therapeutic areas. We recognize that improving human health starts here and that patients rely on us. Our greater Boston R&D hub merges biotech speed and agility with large pharmaceutical company quality, resources, and stability, uniting the best of both worlds to develop new medicines for patients.
The Program
At Novo Nordisk, interns will have the opportunity to work closely with experienced industry pro-fessionals and gain valuable, hands-on, full-time work experience. For ten working weeks, interns will be immersed in the environment of a global pharmaceutical company and contribute to the line of business by providing sustainable and meaningful project work. Our internship program also includes instructor led trainings, a leadership engagement series, and a guided mentorship program to offer professional and personal development.
Program Start: June 2nd, 2025
Program End: August 15th, 2025
Scope of Position
Novo Nordisk Inc, Global Nucleic Acid Therapeutics (GNAT) is seeking an enthusiastic and motivated current graduate student for its 2025 early talent summer internship program. This internship will expose the qualified applicant to LC-MS based proteomics, pharmacokinetics (PK), biodistribution analysis, metabolite identification and/or assay development in an industry setting. Applicant will help to further develop and implement our bioanalytical and biomarker strategies to assist in the optimization of our GalXC™ and GalXC-Plus™ siRNA platforms. The ideal applicant will have prior academic experience in liquid chromatography-mass spectrometry (LC-MS) analysis of peptides, lipids, or nucleic acids. Experience in the bioanalysis and quantitation of analytes in biological matrices and familiarity with oligonucleotide bioanalysis would be a major advantage.
At the conclusion of the internship the intern will understand how to quantitate a drug and its metabolites in a biological matrix using mass spectrometry. Furthermore, the intern will be able to articulate how pharmacokinetic (PK) data is used in the drug development process and will be introduced to the industry standards for pharmacokinetic data.
The intern will actively participate in lab work (method development, sample extraction, and mass spectrometer operation) and data analysis. During the first 2 weeks of the internship, the intern (with assistance from daily supervisor and internship manager) will identify a bioanalytical project to lead. Intern will be responsible for data acquisition and analysis and will present final results to the BA team by the conclusion of the internship.
It is anticipated that the intern will divide their time as follows: 40% BA project work, 40% shadowing, 20% literature review.
