Marketing Communications Consultant, MMSD Marketing Strategy
Full-Time/Hybrid, Boston or Springfield
The Team
As a member of the MassMutual Strategic Distributors (MMSD) Marketing Strategy team, you will be responsible for marketing programs supporting MassMutual's annuity business. MassMutual annuity products are sold through unaffiliated third-party advisors and brokers. MassMutual has a solid base of third-party distribution relationships and is making aggressive, intentional investments to expand their advisor base and be a key player in this market.
The Opportunity
Using your understanding of third-party distribution and the intermediated sales model, you will build strong, collaborative relationships with the MMSD sales and relationship management teams and understand the products and competitors within the marketplace. You will share these insights with COE partners in the campaign development process to ensure program success and deepen organizational understanding of the business.
The impact
In partnership with the MMSD Marketing Strategy Lead for Annuity, Marketing centers-of-excellence (COE), product subject matter experts (SME), and internal/external creative teams, you will develop and deliver marketing programs that generate results in support of the MMSD Annuity business goals and growth targets. Additionally, you will manage Annuity line of business BAU activities, including oversight of collateral updates, posting content to digital platforms, and marketing budget tracking and forecasting. You will be responsible for managing the compliance submission, review, and approval process.

  • Develop and deliver integrated welcome/introduction campaigns targeting the financial professionals of newly onboarded third-party distribution partners
  • Create marketing programs supporting top tier distribution partners and newly launched products, creating awareness and driving adoption among financial professionals
  • Collaborate with MMSD distribution partners (key accounts, sales leadership and field/phone wholesalers) to create point-of-sale materials that drive successful sales interactions and lead to product sales
  • Lead coordination and management of all MMSD Annuity collateral and marketing assets, including compliance approvals, firm filings, posting to digital platforms, and monitoring usage; recommending low-usage pieces for elimination
  • Work with MM creative team or other outside agencies, developing creative briefs, providing creative direction, feedback and ensuring output is on strategy and aligns with the MM and MMSD brand guidelines
  • Partner with MM creative and account management teams to monitor project schedules and deadlines and ensure on time delivery
  • Partner with MMSD Marketing Strategy peers in development of program goals and key performance indicators (KPIs)


The Minimum Qualifications

  • Bachelor's degree required
  • 2+ years of financial services or Insurance Industry experience including knowledge of annuity products, sales concepts, competitive landscape, customer challenges and industry/regulatory trends
  • 5+ years' experience in marketing collateral development and operations, along with a strong understanding of material distribution processes, such as print, web, and email
  • 3+ years' experience with an intermediary sales process of B2B and B2C traditional marketing funnel activities across various mediums.


The Ideal Qualifications

  • 7+ years' experience working in financial services/insurance industry, with a solid understanding of traditional marketing funnel activities across various mediums.
  • Strong written & oral communication, and collaboration skills
  • Strong interpersonal skills and ability to work in a team environment as well as independently
  • Proven success juggling multiple priorities through strong project management skills, attention to detail, leadership, and collaboration in a fast-paced environment
  • Confident self-starter with proven leadership experience and ability to work in matrixed, collaborative organization
  • Demonstrated ability to provide clear direction for marketing briefs and strategic planning
  • Outstanding verbal and written communication and interpersonal skills

Salary Range: $99,800.00-$131,000.00
