About This Role:

As an experienced integrated media strategy practitioner, you will be a leading voice on paid, owned, and earned media, with a strong emphasis on social media, creator marketing, and emerging channels. You bring bold, defensible points of view on how media platforms and channels are evolving — and what that evolution means for CMOs, brand leaders, and social and creator technology vendors. Your insatiable curiosity keeps you on top of breaking developments and key trends across the B2C media landscape, shaping your research, analysis, writing, and published content.

Our ideal candidate has a confident, authoritative voice and is comfortable speaking with the press, delivering keynote presentations, and advising senior B2C marketing executives. You are motivated by helping Forrester clients tackle their most important marketing initiatives, guiding them with clear thought leadership on social and creator strategy, emerging media trends, and modern communications planning.

Job Description:

Lead Market Perspective On The Media Landscape

  • Establish clear, defensible points of view on the evolving media landscape, with emphasis on social platforms, creator ecosystems, social commerce, podcasting, and emerging channels.
  • Shape how brands and vendors understand the future role of media through research, frameworks, and published thought leadership.
  • Track and interpret breaking developments to inform client guidance and press engagement.

Advise CMOs And Brand Leaders On Media, Comms, And Creator Strategy

  • Consult with CMOs and senior marketing executives on integrated media strategy, communications planning, and social and creator approaches.
  • Lead cross‑functional workshops that bring together brand, media, social, and creator stakeholders.
  • Develop repeatable frameworks that help organizations break down silos and make smarter, more connected decisions across teams.

Evaluate Social And Creator Technologies And Partner With Vendors

  • Conduct and defend evaluative research on social and creator technologies, including social suites, social listening and consumer intelligence platforms, and creator marketing solutions.
  • Deliver comparative insights and market landscapes that guide client technology investment decisions.
  • Advise vendors on positioning, messaging, go‑to‑market strategy, and how evolving buyer expectations should shape product direction.

How You’ll Spend Your Time:

IP creation: Own and evolve an integrated research and content portfolio that delivers clear, defensible points of view through original research and published insights. Client engagement: Guide CMOs and other senior marketing leaders using Forrester research, frameworks, and judgment through various types of client engagements. Events and sales support: Build Forrester’s market presence by presenting at events, speaking with the press, and partnering with sales and analyst relations.

Job Requirements:

  • 10+ years in a senior-level media/social media strategy role at an agency, brand, publisher, or tech company.
  • Experience with and curiosity about the impact of AI within the media landscape.
  • An established industry presence as an influential speaker and thinker.
  • Excellent analytical, writing, and presentation skills.
  • The ability to balance the bold and conceptual with the practical and actionable.
  • A profound spirit of collaboration as part of a supportive, integrated team.
  • The ability to travel more than 25% of the time.

What you need to know about the Boston Tech Scene

Boston is a powerhouse for technology innovation thanks to world-class research universities like MIT and Harvard and a robust pipeline of venture capital investment. Host to the first telephone call and one of the first general-purpose computers ever put into use, Boston is now a hub for biotechnology, robotics and artificial intelligence — though it’s also home to several B2B software giants. So it’s no surprise that the city consistently ranks among the greatest startup ecosystems in the world.

Key Facts About Boston Tech

  • Number of Tech Workers: 269,000; 9.4% of overall workforce (2024 CompTIA survey)
  • Major Tech Employers: Thermo Fisher Scientific, Toast, Klaviyo, HubSpot, DraftKings
  • Key Industries: Artificial intelligence, biotechnology, robotics, software, aerospace
  • Funding Landscape: $15.7 billion in venture capital funding in 2024 (Pitchbook)
  • Notable Investors: Summit Partners, Volition Capital, Bain Capital Ventures, MassVentures, Highland Capital Partners
  • Research Centers and Universities: MIT, Harvard University, Boston College, Tufts University, Boston University, Northeastern University, Smithsonian Astrophysical Observatory, National Bureau of Economic Research, Broad Institute, Lowell Center for Space Science & Technology, National Emerging Infectious Diseases Laboratories
