As the Product Lead for Sous Chef, an AI assistant tailor made for restaurants, you’ll work closely with leads in Design, Engineering, AI, Data Science, and with a team of dedicated engineers to design, launch, and scale how we’re putting AI to work for our customers. We’re a scaling team in the midst of building the strategy and vision of AI-led products at Toast. We operate like a small startup with high ambitions and a focus on experimentation, testing, and iteration.

You have a proven track record of building and shipping experiences that include user-facing surfaces as well as platform components. You understand the power of generative AI, the different user interfaces made possible by AI, and the ways in which new technologies can transform existing use cases and customer needs.
About this roll*: (Responsibilities)
- Own and drive the roadmap for Toast’s AI assistant, reimagining how restaurant managers operate and how we build to support them using AI
- Work closely with designers, developers to concept, prototype, ship, measure, and improve products that directly improve outcomes for restaurants
- Define both product strategy and detailed product requirements while helping define the way we build with AI internally
- Research and get to know customers (internal and external) directly through close collaboration with sales and customer success, customer care including joining sales and customer care calls
- Champion customer needs internally by building strong relationships horizontally and vertically within Toast
- Work as a part of the AI leadership team within Toast
Do you have the right ingredients*? (Requirements)
- Experience as a principal product manager, including working with data science and generative AI
- Experience working on developing and launching products on mobile and web
- A proven track record of working collaboratively and effectively with cross-functional teams
- Passion for and knowledge of AI
- Entrepreneurial mindset and ability to create a compelling product vision and define, spot, and grow product market fit
- Take ownership of scaling a product, including setting, measuring, and optimizing the right metrics
- Guide and educate members of R&D on how to build with new technologies, including how to set patterns and frameworks that work across products
