The Opportunity:
The primary goal of a Release Engineer III is to protect the integrity of the production environment while managing the movement of all code changes through the release cycle. The Release Engineer III ensures that all changes are tracked and follow the release process. The Release Engineer III needs to interface and communicate with the members of Agile teams as well as IT daily. Equally, the Release Engineer III must have the confidence to raise concerns and stop deployments if necessary. The Release Engineer III adheres to the Release Management lifecycle which includes planning, coordinating and controlling code releases deployment to production across various portfolios in the enterprise.
Day in the Life:

Manage the movement of all code changes through the dev, test, and production environments, including third party code changes impacting client facing/revenue generating systems in the technology ecosystem.

Guide developers on the branching strategy in source control and static application security testing (SAST) process.

Collaborate with agile team to ensure compliance with SDLC and security standards.

Administer Azure DevOps.

Develop and execute deployment plans and coordinate deployment resources, ensuring separation of duties are maintained.

Maintain a release repository and manage key information such as build and release procedures, dependencies, and notification lists.

Engage with cross-functional teams to resolve issues.

Identify areas of release process improvement and implement best practices.

Assign version numbers following our semantic versioning process.

Represent product technology agile team in CAB meetings to discuss release scope and/or roadblocks.

Inform senior release engineer/manager of enterprise-wide exposure to release risk.

Communicate release details and schedules to the organization as required.

Monitor, troubleshoot and debug build and release related issues with a willingness to resolve problems quickly.

Proactively identify and remove blockers on behalf of the team.

Perform root cause analysis in collaboration with Incident and Problem Management.

Actively supports and embraces our core values in all interactions.

Perform other duties as assigned.
Qualifications:

Bachelor’s degree or higher in Computer Science, Computer Engineering, Electrical Engineering, Management Information Systems and/or equivalent work experience.

4-8 years of experience in Release Management.

Agile software development lifecycle
-
Release management process including continuous integration and continuous delivery practices

Build and release automation tools
-
Source control systems
-
Static code analysis tools

Experience with cloud platforms

Ability to context switch and coordinate schedules and deadlines

Ability to influence in a matrixed organization

Conscientious and detail oriented
