Job Description

The Sales Compensation Manager will oversee the end-to-end management of the company’s sales commission programs. This role is responsible for designing, calculating, analyzing, and ensuring the accurate and timely payment of commission structures across various sales teams. The Sales Compensation Manager will collaborate closely with sales leadership, finance, and HR to ensure commissions align with corporate objectives and motivate the sales force to achieve revenue goals.

Responsibilities

Commission Plan Management: 

  • Develop and implement commission plans that align with company revenue and strategic goals. 
  • Regularly review and update commission structures to ensure competitiveness and effectiveness. 
  • Ensure commission plans are clearly communicated to the sales team, providing transparency and clarity on how commissions are calculated. 

Commission Calculation & Payment: 

  • Accurately calculate monthly, quarterly, and annual commissions based on sales performance. 
  • Ensure timely and error-free commission payouts to all eligible employees. 
  • Resolve any discrepancies or disputes related to commission calculations or payouts. 

Data Analysis & Reporting: 

  • Monitor and report on sales performance relative to commission goals, including performance trends and variances. 
  • Analyze commission payouts to ensure alignment with overall company financial goals. 
  • Provide insights and recommendations to senior management regarding the effectiveness of commission plans. 

Collaboration & Compliance: 

  • Work with sales, finance, and HR teams to ensure commission plans comply with company policies and legal requirements. 
  • Support the finance team in forecasting commission expenses and budgeting. 
  • Provide regular reports to leadership on commission-related metrics and KPIs. 

Process Improvement: 

  • Continuously evaluate commission payment processes and systems for efficiency improvements. 
  • Implement automation tools where necessary to streamline commission calculations and reporting. 
  • Develop and document processes and workflows for commission management. 

Skills and Experience

  • Bachelor’s degree in finance, accounting, business administration, or related field.
  • 7+ years of experience in commission management, sales operations, or finance.
  • Strong analytical and problem-solving skills, with a keen attention to detail.
  • Proficient in Excel and financial modeling tools; experience with commission calculation software (e.g., Xactly, CaptivateIQ) is a plus.
  • Excellent communication and interpersonal skills, with the ability to work cross-functionally.
  • Ability to manage multiple tasks and meet deadlines in a fast-paced environment. 

Preferred Skills

  • Experience working in a SaaS or technology company.
  • Knowledge of sales performance metrics and incentives in a dynamic sales environment.
  • Familiarity with CRM systems (e.g., Salesforce) and ERP systems.

The salary range describes the minimum to maximum base salary range for this position across applicable US locations. The actual compensation offered may vary from the posted hiring range based on geographic location, work experience, education, licensure requirements and/or skill level and will be finalized at the time of offer. In addition to the compensation listed, this position may be eligible for equity compensation, and a bonus or commission whereby total compensation may exceed base salary depending on individual or company performance. Base Salary Range

$165,800$224,300 USD
