Position Summary

The Senior Director, Corporate Partnerships and Program Development will contribute to strategy and execution of collaboration innovation across the Flagship ecosystem. This function at Flagship Pioneering that leverages strategic project leadership, business sense, and EQ to drive the productive implementation of multiple institution-level partnerships with pharma companies that span the Flagship ecosystem.  

The Senior Director, Corporate Partnerships and Program Development will be accountable for managing complex alliances through the alliance lifecycle to contribute to the partnership's success. You will contribute to alliance design and contract development, with Business Development, and guide the organization on best practices for alliance execution.

This role will be based at our Cambridge MA site, requiring about 3 days per week onsite weekly.

Specific responsibilities:

  • Drive the programmatic development and implementation of multiple alliances through a team of collaborators and stakeholders across Flagship to meet business and partnership objectives. Alliances and partnerships include pharmaceutical companies, life sciences companies and global partners (e.g. research institutes, government sponsors).
  • Develop collaboration guiding principles and objectives, execute and recommend changes to governance structure, develop joint ways of working, and provide alliance health checks.
  • Provide expertise on the alliance contract and operationalization, drive contract development and amendments with Business Development.
  • Drive alliance governance including alignment on collaboration progress, meetings and project development.
  • Utilize alliance reporting and alliance health monitoring to inform strategy.
  • Train multidisciplinary teams on value drivers of alliance.
  • Develop tools and best practices for execution.

Key Qualifications and Attributes

  • Applicable advanced degree. Scientific PhD preferred.
  • 8+ Years of biotech or Pharma industry experience
  • Experience leading Pharmaceutical and/or Biotech partnerships/alliances
  • Expertise on alliance contracts and track record of translating contract into actions.
  • Ability to be interface with FSP PBUs and external partner R&D organization(s)
  • Ability to operate in a matrixed environment, comfortable with ambiguity
  • Sophisticated collaborator and communicator, with ability to influence up, down, and across, based on strong understanding of internal and external organizational goals
  • Self-starter and entrepreneur with a continuous improvement mindset to assist in building brand new function
  • Ability to drive complex projects with multiple stakeholders to completion
  • Expertise in synthesizing significant data spanning multiple functional areas, and balancing drug discovery and development decisions with strategic business sense
  • Passion for pioneering impact and value creation in the life sciences space based upon delivering human and planet health benefits
