The Senior Vice President of Software Engineer is a senior leadership position tasked with overseeing the end-to-end management of software development, providing technical direction across departments, and driving organizational growth at scale. This role involves leading a team of approximately 70 to 100 employees, ensuring cohesive architectural design, and fostering innovation in software solutions.

As a key driver of software development strategy, the Senior Vice President of Software Engineer will shape the long-term vision for this segment of the AutoStore product portfolio, ensuring the delivery of high-quality, cutting-edge software solutions that align with business objectives and deliver commercial value.

With software engineering at the core of successful product differentiation and market leadership, this role is instrumental in establishing software as a strategic growth driver for the organization. Success in this position requires a strong balance of technical expertise, strategic foresight, and exceptional people leadership.

Key Responsibilities

  • Drive innovation within the software organization to enhance products and services, ensuring they remain competitive and meet market demands.

  • Strategic Vision and Influence at the Product Leadership Level: Act as a thought leader in shaping the 5-year strategy, working collaboratively with product leadership peers to steer the Product Business Unit's overall direction and roadmap.

  • Foster a culture of collaboration, innovation, and continuous improvement within the software engineering team.

  • Proven Leadership of Large, Diverse Teams: Demonstrate a track record of managing over 200 software, test, and architecture professionals across multiple years, driving high engagement and results.

  • Agile Workforce Strategy Development: Create strategies for a flexible, cost-effective workforce, including integrating offshore contractors for global time zone coverage and increased agility.

  • Ensure the delivery of high-quality software solutions on time and within budget by establishing and monitoring key performance indicators (KPIs) and metrics.

  • Technical oversight across departments, including architectural design across all department

  • Strong project management (execution) skills, including the ability to manage multiple projects in the details, meeting deadlines, and ensuring overall team work, including working with peers to help (PMs, PjMs, etc)

  • Implement best practices for software development, including agile methodologies, code reviews, testing, and continuous integration/continuous deployment (CI/CD) processes.

  • Detail-Oriented Execution: Maintain a hands-on cadence with teams and projects, emphasizing detailed oversight across all major initiatives.

  • Optimize engineering processes and resource allocation to improve efficiency, scalability, and productivity.

  • Cloud Platform Development and Scaling: Bring deep expertise in building and scaling robust cloud platforms that support thousands of users and generate substantial revenue, including scaling products from development to commercial viability.

  • Bringing AI Technologies into Legacy Platforms: Integrate AI technologies into legacy software to create new revenue streams and enhance the company’s market offerings.

  • Understanding best practices in security, open source, and other protocols.

Will require 25% travel min to Autostore sites.

Qualifications

  • Bachelor’s degree in Computer Science, Software Engineering, or a related field; advanced degree preferred.

  • 15+ years of software engineering experience, with at least 7 years in a senior leadership role managing large teams (200+ employees).

  • Demonstrated success in designing and scaling organizations to align with company goals through a strategic approach that includes merging departments, recruiting top talent, and establishing relevant partnerships.

  • Proven ability to develop clear business plans and software strategies, achieving significant results through visionary leadership.

  • Experience in developing and implementing strong reporting and governance models, reporting and goal system for global organizations

  • Experience in building up an Ai platform and strategy.

  • Experience working in a multidisciplinary organization with close collaboration with hardware engineering teams.

  • Key contributor to establishing Software as a dominant strategic contributor to company growth and establish strong business cases on how Software will increase AutoStore´s capabilities in the ASRS market, including driving strategic support to adjacent technology development outside of the cube

  • Proven track record of delivering complex software products in a dynamic, fast-paced environment.

  • Strong technical background with expertise in modern software development practices, tools, and technologies.

  • Experience with agile methodologies, software development lifecycle (SDLC), and CI/CD processes.

  • Optional – Experiences in building design, simulation, and analytics software suites.
