MongoDB is seeking a Software Engineer to join the Education AI Team. Our mission is to innovate in the technical education space and enable learners with AI, LLM, and vector search technology.

This team takes on challenging and exciting projects such as the Education AI chatbot, the MongoDB Chatbot Framework, educational content generation, AI system benchmarking, dataset creation, and more. Our work is used both internally and externally by thousands of learners.

Our ideal candidate

  • Has worked on complex, in-production web or AI applications
  • Has experience with LLMs, vector search, full-text search, or data analysis technologies
  • Proficient in AI engineering practices, like prompt engineering (chain-of-thought, few shot, etc.), evaluation, and retrieval-augmented generation.
  • Deeply understands TypeScript and/or Python
  • Can write, discuss, and review code in a collaborative way
  • Understands how to make resilient, scalable, and maintainable software
  • Has at least 3 years of experience as a software engineer

  • Contribute to the Education AI chatbot and MongoDB Chatbot Framework
  • Explore ways to leverage generative AI to accelerate the development of educational material
  • Have opportunities to speak and write about our work in the AI space
  • Orchestrate large-scale features and modernizations by working across product teams
  • Analyze user behavior & chatbot performance to identify gaps and deliver a more useful product
  • Own and direct change that enables your fellow engineers to be successful with their frontend-focused work

MongoDB’s base salary range for this role is posted below. Compensation at the time of offer is unique to each candidate and based on a variety of factors such as skill set, experience, qualifications, and work location. Salary is one part of MongoDB’s total compensation and benefits package. Other benefits for eligible employees may include: equity, participation in the employee stock purchase program, flexible paid time off, 20 weeks fully-paid gender-neutral parental leave, fertility and adoption assistance, 401(k) plan, mental health counseling, access to transgender-inclusive health insurance coverage, and health benefits offerings. Please note, the base salary range listed below and the benefits in this paragraph are only applicable to U.S.-based candidates.

$81,000$160,000 USD
