The Role
This role offers the chance to join Moderna's growing Commercial PMO, a part of the Commercial Strategy Organization.  The Sr. Manager will leverage extensive project management expertise to lead challenging assignments with a high degree of independence.

This role operates at both the strategic and tactical levels, building new PMO capabilities while managing projects currently in-flight. The ideal candidate will bring prior experience in establishing PMO capabilities, including implementing the people, processes, and technologies required for consistent project management.

The Sr. Manager will define clear project scope, goals, and deliverables that align with the overarching business objectives. The role will also involve identifying potential risks to timelines and collaborating with teams to create effective mitigation strategies. Continuous improvement is a key focus, and this role will contribute to enhancing Commercial PMO processes to drive organizational success.

Here’s What You’ll Do

  • Collaborate with project sponsors to establish governance and document program or project scope, key milestones, and deliverables.

  • Develop integrated, dependency-driven project plans, aligning tactics with overall strategy.

  • Facilitate project team meetings to oversee the planning and execution of project activities to ensure alignment with the expectations and timelines.

  • Create and maintain reports and dashboards to measure project progress against key metrics and identify risks or issues. 

  • Provide leadership for teams to proactively plan project activities, and create an environment where problems are addressed and communicated in a timely manner. 

  • Build strong relationships with stakeholders and collaborate across functions.

  • Identify risks, gaps, and resource constraints, partnering with team members to develop and implement mitigation plans.

  • Communicate project status and risks effectively to ensure accountability and alignment with internal stakeholders.

  • Contribute to the development and enhancement of PMO processes to drive efficiency and organizational success.

  • Perform other responsibilities as required.

Here’s What You’ll Need (Minimum Qualifications)

  • Bachelor’s degree in Business, Life Sciences, or a related field.

  • 7+ years of experience in program and project management across diverse organization sizes and structures

  • Demonstrated knowledge of various project management methodologies (e.g., waterfall, agile, scrum, kanban)

  • Ability to manage concurrent project activities across multiple workstreams

  • Proficient in Microsoft tools: Word, Excel, PowerPoint, Visio, and 

  • Extensive experience and skill with various Project Management Tools (e.g., Smartsheet, MS Project, Miro, etc.)

  • Excellent written communication, verbal communication and presentation skills; ability to communicate effectively with all levels of leadership (inclusive of executives)

  • Strong interpersonal and leadership skills to effectively communicate and build relationships with a broad spectrum of audiences at all organizational levels

Here’s What You’ll Bring to the Table (Preferred Qualifications)

  • Advanced degree (MBA or Master’s in a relevant field)

  • 5+ years of experience in Commercial Operations or similar functions (e.g., Marketing Operations, Product Operations, or Launch Project Management).

  • Experience in Biotech, Pharmaceutical or Health Tech industry 

  • Scrum Master, Project Management Professional (PMP) or similar PMI certification

  • Demonstrated strengths in data analysis, process improvement, and strategic thinking

  • Data visualization skills in Tableau
