Volunteer Program Manager, Community Culture and Impact, Community Responsibility, Full-Time, (hybrid) Boston or Springfield
The Opportunity
The Volunteer Program Manager will drive MassMutual's employee volunteerism and community engagement initiatives. This role is crucial in aligning our corporate values with meaningful social impact, enhancing employee engagement, and strengthening our reputation as a responsible corporate citizen.
The Team
The Community Culture and Impact team has roles leading our corporate volunteer program, community/business integration, and impact measurement for all of MassMutual's community giving and social impact. The team interacts regularly with Human Resources, Strategic Giving, Impact Investing, and Marketing & Brand, and teams across the company. This team is motivated by creating lasting connections between associates and the community that reinforce our commitment to Live Mutual.
The Impact:
Strategy Development and Implementation
- Design and execute a comprehensive corporate volunteer strategy aligned with Community Responsibility objectives and business goals
- Develop innovative programs that leverage employee skills and company resources for maximum community impact
- Collaborate with senior leadership to build volunteerism into company-wide initiatives and culture
- Develop and implement volunteer recognition programs to celebrate employee contributions
Program Management
- Direct the end-to-end execution of volunteer programs, including signature initiatives and ongoing partnerships
- Develop project timelines, budgets, and deliverables for all events and activities, ensuring all milestones are met on time and within scope.
- Oversee volunteer management systems and tools to streamline processes and track engagement
- Implement best practices in volunteer management, ensuring high-quality experiences for employees and community partners
- Partner with internal communications teams to drive employee participation through effective communication strategies and engagement campaigns
Partnerships and Stakeholder Management
- Cultivate and manage relationships with nonprofit organizations, aligning our company's expertise and resources with their needs
- Work with internal departments (HR, Marketing, Business Units) to integrate volunteerism into employee experience and business operations
- Represent MassMutual at industry events and forums related to community engagement
Measurement and Reporting
- Develop and track key performance indicators for volunteer programs
- Prepare comprehensive reports on social impact and employee engagement for senior leadership and stakeholders
The Minimum Qualifications
- 7+ years in corporate social responsibility, volunteer management, or related Marketing type roles within large organizations
- 3+ years of demonstrated experience in developing and managing successful corporate volunteer programs
The Ideal Qualifications
- Strong understanding of current trends and best practices in corporate citizenship and employee engagement
- Excellent project management, customer service, communication, and interpersonal skills
- Experience with volunteer management software and data analysis tools
- Strategic thinking with the ability to execute and align volunteer initiatives with business objectives
- Proficiency in measuring and communicating social impact
- Ability to influence and collaborate with senior executives and diverse stakeholders
- Innovation mindset to develop creative solutions for community engagement
