ezCater is rapidly expanding our product offering to power all food for work use cases. We have a team of experienced and driven directors who are empowered to develop and launch the needed technical strategies for this product expansion. We are seeking a seasoned VP that can lead this team to the next level of scale. You will report directly to the CTO and regularly engage with the executive leadership team as well as business partners throughout ezCater to 10X the impact of our engineering function. We’re looking for a leader that has a playbook for how to efficiently develop  platform investments while also rapidly bringing features to market and setting the strategy for optimal total cost of ownership. You will also be ready to unlearn prior company conventions and fully submerge in ezCater’s cultural recipe, continuing to strengthen ezCater’s commitment to collaboration, accountability and empowered teams. You’ll be eager to push out of your comfort zone and engage in experiments to develop more creative muscles throughout Technology. Most importantly, you’ll be committed to understanding the needs of the internal and external customers our product serves and be experienced at synthesizing the roadmap into a concise and engaging story to inspire our teams. 

What You'll Do:

  • Leadership & Strategy
    • Identify the highest impacting system or process impediments across engineering. Act as the key leader to unblock. 
    • Initiate and support ezCater’s approach to offshoring/outsourcing to maximize capacity while preserving ezCater’s culture. 
    • Provide strategic guidance and technical direction on enterprise buy versus build decisions.
    • Partner with our People Team and FP&A to reinvent our approaches to portfolio and talent management. 
    • Lead the ongoing organizational design shift to keep pace with growth.
    • Collaborate with cross-functional stakeholders, including your peers across product and technology,  operations, and executive leadership, to define and execute against the cohesive engineering strategy.
  • Team Management & Development
    • Build and lead a high-performing engineering organization, attracting top talent, fostering a culture of innovation, and promoting professional growth.
    • Set clear performance expectations, provide regular feedback, and mentor engineering managers and individual contributors.
    • Foster a collaborative and inclusive work environment, promoting cross-team collaboration, knowledge sharing, and continuous improvement.
  • Technology Trends & Industry Knowledge
    • Stay abreast of emerging technologies, industry trends, and best practices in platform development, fulfillment systems, and front end development. 
    • Evaluate and recommend technology investments, tools, and partnerships to drive innovation and maintain a competitive edge.
    • Represent the company in relevant industry events, conferences, and forums, establishing the organization as a thought leader in the field.

What You Have:

  • Proven experience (8+ years) leading large (100+) engineering functions in an organization that has matured their platform capabilities. 
  • Demonstrated expertise in scalable architecture design, API integration, and cloud-based technologies.
  • Experience managing and scaling engineering teams in fast-paced, agile environments.
  • Excellent leadership and communication skills, with the ability to influence and collaborate effectively at all levels of the organization.
  • Track record of successfully driving complex engineering initiatives, delivering high-quality results on time and within budget.
  • Strategic thinker with a strong business acumen and the ability to align engineering initiatives with overall business objectives.
  • Preferred: Strong understanding of e-commerce and fulfillment operations, including inventory management, order processing, and logistics.
