Workday Product Owner

Location: Zionsville, IN or Waltham, MA

Job Summary:

The Workday Product Owner is responsible for leading the strategic deployment, management, and continuous improvement of the Workday platform at Group 1001. This includes direct oversight of the Workday Technical Support team and strategic guidance for business resources managing configurations of Workday modules, including HCM, Financials, and Sourcing. The role ensures that Workday is implemented and optimized according to industry best practices, while maintaining compliance with all security and regulatory requirements.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Strategic Ownership:
    • Develop and manage the Workday roadmap in alignment with Group 1001’s business objectives.
    • Collaborate with the Workday Executive Committee and module leads to create and implement a cohesive Workday strategic plan.
    • Interface with Workday, Inc. to monitor platform updates, identify applicable enhancements, and guide adoption of new features.
  • Platform Management and Optimization:
    • Ensure end-to-end process standardization across all Workday modules.
    • Implement and maintain data governance best practices for accuracy, consistency, and compliance.
    • Oversee platform-level change management, ensuring consistency and alignment across all modules.
    • Identify, implement, and manage integrations with third-party SaaS tools and applications.
    • Continually evaluate and optimize the support model for the Workday platform.
    • Continuously assess the organization's return on investment (ROI) in Workday, ensuring that enhancements, optimizations, and module expansions deliver maximum business value
  • Security and Compliance:
    • Ensure proper security roles, functional segregation, and access controls are established and maintained.
    • Collaborate with the security team to maintain compliance with corporate security policies and ensure adherence to IT General Computing Controls.
    • Document and oversee ongoing assessment of user access management, change management, and related compliance measures.
  • Team Leadership and Collaboration:
    • Directly manage one team member, a Director responsible for leading the Workday Technical Support team, ensuring alignment with platform goals and objectives.
    • Provide dotted-line oversight to module product owners, supporting their efforts to maintain and enhance Workday configurations.
    • Foster cross-functional collaboration across departments to ensure seamless integration, effective utilization, and consistent support of Workday across the organization.
  • Reporting and Decision Support:
    • Establish robust data reporting capabilities to drive data-informed decision-making across modules.

Qualifications:

  • Experience and Expertise:
    • 10+ years of experience with Workday, including strategic ownership of platform implementations and management of multiple modules (e.g., HCM, Financials, Sourcing).
    • Proven track record in managing Workday implementations at a strategic and operational level.
    • Deep understanding of security provisioning within Workday and adherence to best practices.
    • Experience in data governance, process standardization, and managing integrations with third-party applications.
  • Leadership and Collaboration:
    • Strong background operating at a senior leadership level, effectively communicating with executive stakeholders and vendor partners.
    • Demonstrated ability to collaborate across functions and lead teams in achieving strategic outcomes.
    • Flexibility to operate effectively at multiple levels, balancing high-level strategy with operational execution.
  • Skills and Competencies:
    • Superior analytical and problem-solving skills with a focus on precision and timely delivery.
    • Exceptional communication and interpersonal skills, with the ability to influence and partner with diverse stakeholders.
    • Strong ability to prioritize and manage workload in a fast-paced environment.
    • Knowledge of Agile methodologies and experience working within Agile frameworks for product management.
  • Education and Certifications:
    • Bachelor’s degree in a relevant field preferred.
    • Workday Pro certification highly preferred.

Compensation:  Our compensation reflects the cost of labor across several U.S. geographic markets. The base pay for this position ranges from $200,000/year in our lowest geographic market up to $250,000/year in our highest geographic market.  Pay is based on a number of factors including market location and may vary depending on job-related knowledge, skills, and experience.

Benefits Highlights:  

Employees who meet benefit eligibility guidelines and work 30 hours or more weekly, have the ability to enroll in Group 1001’s benefits package. Employees (and their families) are eligible to participate in the Company’s comprehensive health, dental, and vision insurance plan options.  Employees are also eligible for Basic and Supplemental Life Insurance, Short and Long-Term Disability, and to enroll in the Company’s Employee Assistance Program and other wellness initiatives.  Employees may also participate in the Company’s 401K plan, with matching contributions by the Company.
